MAY FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS!
Eureka Springs’ annual May Festival of the Arts is in full swing. If you missed last week’s ARTragous Parade, White Street Studio Walk, the dinner theatre production of Temperance Tantrums, or any of the other exciting events and activities, do not despair, we’ve only just begun!
There are many month-long exhibitions available for viewing in many of our art galleries around town. One particular is the Exhibit of Student Art hanging at Iris in Basin Park. Art students from area schools were challenged with the theme “Environmental Totems” and have created 16-inch tall totems depicting ways in which they can have a positive impact on our environment. This is an amazing exhibit that showcases the exceptional talents of our youth.
POETluck will be held on Thursday evening at the Writer’s Colony at Dairy Hollow.
The public is invited to the potluck dinner and literary salon. Writers of all genres, readers and listeners are welcome to attend. Bring a dish to share and present up to four minutes of your original work. The featured speaker will be a current resident of the Writer’s Colony.
Also on Thursday, our bi-weekly Eureka Springs Farmers Market. Located in the parking lot of Pine Mountain Village, the Market is open from 7:00 am until noon. Lots and lots of locally grown fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs and other plants are available. New items added every week.
The weekend will be packed with art related activities. Art in the Park sets up on Friday in Basin Spring Park downtown. This juried show features some of the most talented local and regional artists around. From painting to photography and everything beyond, stop by for a look-see. While you’re there, grab a bench and enjoy live music in the band shell.
Take a drive out to Beavertown to Castle Rogues Manor for the photography exhibit. The students of Main Stage Creative Community Center host a multi-generational glass and metal art exhibit. They are located on Main Street. Stop by all the galleries downtown for special exhibits, featured artists and receptions.
THE Auditorium welcomes An Evening of Mystery and Mayhem on Saturday night. This comedy show is described as “new millennium vaudeville” and “totally twisted cabaret.” Stop by THE Auditorium on Main Street for tickets and show time.
